![]() It’s down to the effort the modder wants to put in and some of them are amazing. Have you seen sonic, minions packs and angry birds to name a few They are the most modded elements in the market place, not even Java have that level of modding, they don’t even feel like minecraft, I don’t think it’s down to Mojang or the quality of the game. The program language for mods in bedrock is not in C+ The game is in C+ or C# but since most things are data driven you make mods using json and their own program language called molang.Ģ.Console and mobile cannot be used to make mods with, or it’s very very difficult, so this removes all console players reducing the amount of people potentially doing mods to just Windows users.I believe Mojang is still refactoring code and cleaning up tech debt in the codebase, which means it takes time for them to implement certain things and push them to the API for people to use. The API makes it relatively easy for players/modders to make add-ons/mods for it, but they’re also limited due to the fact that Mojang tried to keep their API data-driven as to not break things. Mojang does have an official add-on (modding) API for Bedrock, but it’s only been around since late 2016 and has gone though several iterations already with varying capabilities. ![]() So people likely can’t make mods for Bedrock the same way they do for Java Edition. I’m not sure why, but it’s likely a combination of it being written in a compiled language (C++) and the app itself is usually encrypted due to the varying app stores DRM. Java Edition’s modding community has also been around much longer than Pocket Edition/Bedrock’s.īedrock isn’t as easy to decompile. ![]() This makes it easier to see and/or manipulate code to make mods. It’s sort of a combination of all those things? If I’m not mistaken, I believe it’s because Java Edition has/can be decompiled. (#spoiler) = neat!
